I worked for a company back in 2015 that was making the same eye implant Jensen has basically. It could be adjusted to see in the dark and see heat signatures through walls. I dunno if it even came out. It was just a prototype when I was there.

Cybernetics is an arms race, just like real life.
You could throw away your smartphone and actually learn and remember everything you need like in ye old times. But even the shittiest jobs now require you to have a smartphone. Cyberware is just a logical continuation of the trend of enhancements.
It is an incorrect assumption people just went to replace all their body parts overnight. It was the same slow process where some did some, the technology matured and eventually you were required to have more or less to even survive.

Like, it would be cool for actual cripples to get their limbs back, some might even enjoy getting super speed or whatever, but there's literally no reason for it when cars exist, for example. Otherwise, you don't need some enhanced cyber eyes if the same could be achieved with glasses and so on.
Physical strength itself is overrated. What's actually important is if we can somehow "enhance" the human brain, then yeah, people who don't get mods will most likely be fucked.

Cyberpunk deals with this somewhat. The mercs, runners etc. operate on a rule of cool. To them its not about efficiency and success but going out in a blaze of glory and looking good while doing it. Getting chromed up adds to that but is also a necessity for any merc to get anywhere. No one is getting full power armor and even if you could afford it, you'd be the laughing stock of the merc world for being a bitch.

The voice acting is much better. Male V sounds like a retard compared to Adam.
Adam is a much better written character compared to V.
The games story explores deeper and darker themes than simply "capitalism bad"

I feel like the world of Cyberpunk is MEANT to be that fucked up. Corpos intentionally don't care what people want and deliver what THEY want. The relationship between supplier and buyer warped and disproportionate. But also living without cyberware in 2077 would be a nightmare.
