Had they presented higher resolution images like we saw here rather than their strange cropped shit, I would have believed it sooner. I really don't understand the behavior of the discord leakers when they could have easily just given us a proper screenshot. I don't understand what the point of cropping things was, then going silent immediately. I guess they were just really scared of getting caught.

My tendency to lean on "don't believe it even if it does look believeable" comes from a decade straight of Smash fags and their rather convincing leaks, not just the grinch but there were countless other ones and most of them wound up being fake. Not as common a practice these days, and not once did I think AI was involved. I've just seen this situation play out multiple times where everyone gets excited, then they get let down, and with how contentious of a property K. Rool has been strangely missing from the mainline games, I had no idea what to think especially when they have this giant direct and he's nowhere to be seen.

Now I did see there were channels and stuff theorizing at signs pointed towards K. Rool, but in my mind that just all seemed a bit tongue in cheek to have some kind of big hidden reveal for a villain like that. I really thought they'd try and distance themselves more from Kremlins.

I never had a Super Nintendo growing up, so I didn't wind up playing DKC much later. I actually enjoy many rare games, and I think those are some great platformers but never had an attachment to the series like many others, which is why I come off as so detached over the possibility of it. I went through years and years of he's in, he's not in, he's in. After a while I just lean on skepticism.

But yeah for me, the tiny cropped images and it allegedley being from a stream on discord was what really rubbed me the wrong way. It seemed to be capitalizing on people's wants, whereas the Chiense leaker's screenshots I didn't doubt at all. Once I saw the elephant I thought "oh shit". And when I saw the K. Rool statue, yeah I was 100% wrong. Just trying to explain my stubbornness and my way of thinking. So no, I wasn't trolling. When I called the screenshots shit, I wasn't shitting on the design of K. Rool but rather the quality of the screenshots themselves, being so low res. His design IS very similar to smash (not a bad thing)
