Skills are just Weapons (big guns, small guns, melee and energy weapons), Medicine and Infiltration (lockpicking and hacking). They have four perks each and all the perks do is increase effectiveness by %. Armors now give you skills like barter, survival and speech.
You can "enchant" weapons with special effects by using the SCIENCE! perk. To get it you have to kill 100 deathclaws. Respawning deathclaw nests are the new gimmick and they are as dangerous as a feral ghoul.

I love fallout universe but fallout 4 was heavly toned down and it's a 10 years old game. There is no dialogue options, most of "randomally generated" npc's are samefaced blacks, they removed slavery and violence in post apocaliptic world... The Nuka Girl pinup looks amazing, but the DLC costume looks as unattractive as they could make it to be. I have very low expectations and there is no way I will blindly give them any money.

Now video games are following the same pattern: every AAA studio is giving their games enormous budgets, 5-10 years of development, a bunch of advertising and then releasing a wet fart that makes NO money. They're not even making 'box office flop' level money, they're making Uwe Boll money.
Neither industry is willing to step back from their current scheme because they're suffering big time from sunk cost fallacy. If Hollywood studios would release 2-3 movies a year with a <10m budget they would make more money. If video game studios would do the same - or just take some risks by doing things like game jams - then they could also make some fucking money.
But neither one wants to because they are obsessed with a 10 digit paycheck.
