Not be surprised. Dragon Age Inquisition won the first game awards show GOTY. TLOU2 won it one year too. Culturally speaking "journalists" have very similar taste and vote accordingly. The actress herself just makes them more eager.

Not really care and continue to play old games I suppose. I mean, the liberal devs made their point loud and clear. Modern gaming isn't for me so I don't really pay much attention to it outside of getting a laugh out of it when some big game fails or some studio goes under.

If it pisses off the chuds, then that's all that matters.

That's what I thought when Spider-Man 2 was announced.

I'm looking forward to Yotei. But it looks like another okay-ish/somewhat disappointing Sony sequel. Nothing is standing in the way of E33 unless Silksong shadow drops. It has been the only game this year that was genuinely surprising, then unforgettable. Instant classic. No sequel game is touching it.

The only time an outrage bait game won game of the year was TLOU2. You act like it's a common thing, but they usually go with pretty safe inoffensive choices. No one was offended by Astro Bot or Elden Ring or God of War

Show me a more meaningless term than this.
Devs can just call their own game "game of the year", there's no punishment for doing so. No one fucking cares, there's no consequences because they can just say that some blog named their game GOTY if anyone asks (no one asks who the fuck would?). Every industry gets checked for fraud, false advertising etc. EXCEPT for video games. There's no video game police. It doesn't fucking matter. My cock and balls are GOTY because I voted them to be so now you have to suck them.
