Isn't it weird how Wario and Waluigi are introduced as rivals for Mario and Luigi but they've never really been used in this capacity?
When was the last time the two duos ever even really interacted? Wario and Waluigi are mostly just in the background of the cast like they're just Mario's other friends.

Wario is basically his own character at this point with two solo series to his name.
Waluigi was made by Camelot, not Nintendo, so they refuse to use him (outside of silly spinoffs) on principal.

This is one of the reasons why the rivalry was dropped, Mario needs to actually partake in it for it to work, and judging by how shitty the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake turned out, it's clear that Nintendo prefers Mario to be nothing more than a Mickey Mouse tier character

Wario is an extreme parody of Mario, the character is a lot more creative than regular "evil" characters. So how does Waluigi work?

Waluigi really isn't like Luigi at all. The little we have of Waluigi, we know he's very showy and boisterous. Luigi has generally been depicted as somewhat modest, often shy or fearful. Wario's yellpow is a color close to Mario's red, but Waluigi's purple isn't at all close to Luigi's green. He should've had either bright green or Teal for his main color. Only real similarity is being taller and thinner like Luigi. If Wario's an extreme, Waluigi is an opposite.

it's perfect. 4 character jrpg, able to split the party multiple different ways across the story, can even introduce a Warlow or something if the series could squeeze some extra soul out of itself. And have the setting be all about doppelgangers, or something, in a mirror world. That would be completely perfect all on its own. Done. It can be written and planned out over the course of 3 hours. This game could release in a year. Do it. But no, we get openslop zogiokart and upgradetreeslop zoggy kong instead.

Wario mogs hard due to immortality. He beats most vidya characters that way, unless they have some kind of weapon that trounces immortal beings (like Link's silver arrows) or have even more absurd toonforce power (like Creative mode Steve, or Prince of all cosmos) you aren't winning against Wario. Even things like Zombification, which is usually a hard weakness is only a nuisance to Wario, who can be cured by sunlight or water.

Yes, but Rudy has weird magical abilities like turning the music box people into monsters, that obviously can defeat such sort of thing. It's like how Wizards and Magic users are effective against Superman, because his kryptonian strength doesn't give him any advantage against that kind of thing. I don't recall Shadow's abilities being outright magical, John Constantine/Doctor Strange style, I assumed they were Psycho-phsyical, like the Lantern corps.
