Honestly, FFVIII kinda already feels like a visual novel half the time with how much staring and awkward pausing there is. Throw in DeSu mechanics and you'd have Squall brooding while strategizing demon fusions and arguing with Seifer over turn order. I'd play the hell out of that.

Enemies get higher levels in response to you levelling up but they also drop better materials to craft stronger weapons or convert them into stronger spells. You'd have to be retarded for this to make it harder on you and not easier.

I like VIII but the story's pacing gets completely fucked very shortly into the game, and I don't think it recovers in any meaningful way that you can glean something from it. Still fun to play though
