Rise of Golden Idol DLC3
It just came out, thoughts? This thread will have spoilers.

Does this map mean that Lemuria is fookin' australia?

Have the dlcs been good so far? I thought Rise was quite a lot worse than Case so im probably not gonna get them unless they're an improvement over the base game.

Thank for the heads up. Gonna play it right now

I feel they've been average, more of the same to scratch that obra dinn itch. The good thing about Rise DLCs is that they are mostly standalone episodes so the wait every few months is less painful, unlike how Case's DLCs form one big prequel arc.

One part i really disliked was this one form that's purely all blanks. It doesn't make sense for this type of game.

Both are quite better than main rise I'd say.
Anonymous No.715601074
Heco is an anagram of Echo. No idea how "Sift" is "Secunda", maybe they didn't want to make it too obvious.

Dasilva is also Moumaati's family name in the main game, she's the Lemurian woman after the artifacts and was deciphering the Spieldance on TV. This however contradicts the family name system they introduced in DLC3's Orchard scenario since their family names would've changed a lot over all the generations.
Anonymous No.715601508 >>715630156
Does anyone remember if Echo Secunda was a name made-up by the archaeologists?
Anonymous No.715601652
The second DLC actually made me feel bad for the guru lady from the main campaign, because she genuinely believed she could use the idol to make the world a better place.
Anonymous No.715601995 >>715602825
Definitely the weakest of the 3 DLCs by far. The "mastermind" had very little setup and his narrative wasn't very compelling. Finding out this is Echo Secunda's backstory was very underwhelming as well. I had to look up a guide for the very last puzzle because I literally couldn't tell what the fuck it was trying to ask me to do with the three grey boxes. In hindsight maybe I'm just dumb and it's obvious I was supposed to connect the roster of Lemurian artifacts with the whole heist, but I don't feel like there was anything that made it "click" that this was connected to his whole plan of convincing everyone to conquer the world

It goes back to how everything's a clue, but it makes me wonder what's the relevance of the slide show with the dragon?
Anonymous No.715603404 >>715603737 >>715604980

I think it's a memory from the perspective Oriel/Secunda/Heco, after his brain being scrambled by the Disarranger, back in the asylum. It's Heco's vision of the world, using his golden sword to unshackle the Lemurian dragon and conquer the globe (it's in the background of one of the slides)
Anonymous No.715603737
>>715603404
For further explanation in the final scenario of New Wells, after Echo/Heco gets blasted by the Disarranger you peer into his memories and they all have the same medieval motif, so it's just how they see the world now

>"the idol must be used on a conscious human being"

I suppose that makes sense, just that I wouldn't have expected them to jump back to a previous DLC in the middle of a chapter.

My solution to the last scenario was
>X and Y "shot" Z
Is "killed" also accepted?

It doesn't make sense to shoot him before transferring the memories. Was he trying to look like he was just an unwitting hostage of the gang? The sentinels all knew he was guilty to the point one programmed a robot to hunt down and kill him
Anonymous No.715607790 >>715608641

Isn't the implication that the two croonies turned on him?
In the final cutscene we see Heco's remaining personality in the disk fantasizing about killing those two croonies before carrying out his plan.
Anonymous No.715608641
>>715607790
I think that that was Heco's initial plan after getting away and getting into a new body with the idol. His body was still being tracked by the ship because they fucked up during the heist, so the backup plan put him in the disc to lose the ship and then escape within the dead zone. What he didn't expect was the two seeing the billboard for the teleporter and thinking they could hook that up for their getaway, which got the two of them fused and Heco left in the disc

so far, the second DLC was the best. This one was very straightforward once you go past all the glimglans and vimgoolabs. Not a fan of this sort of stuff, the more these games lean into it the less I care for it. The "puzzle" with shapes and commands at the end was ridiculously simple, and the game gave you two of them. Meh!

any other Obra Dinn likes I should keep an eye out for? I've wishlisted Death at Fleming Manor, I've seen some others posted in this thread but hadn't checked them out.

I think all the DLCs needed one more case. Again they really fail to set up the mastermind and pretty much everything used to figure out their true motive is just from the tiny snippets you get after finishing a case. It makes it feel like rather then having to solve an even bigger case from pieces found in all the others, its just shoving together parts you get from the end of case parts and that's not as fun.
I still enjoyed it but it didn't have that cool hype it all comes together moment.

Where the fuck does this DLC sit on the timeline? The idol is still in Lumeria which makes it pre-Albert Cloudsley's expedition, but when he arrives in Lumeria it's like a medieval nation, so is there some cataclysmic event that bombs them back to the stone age? The final DLC is suppose to take place after Case, so what wouldn't fit unless it's gonna be some lore dump

Discripton of the 4th DLC... What do you think it's gonna be, anon?
>Set shortly after the events of The Case of the Golden Idol, follow a group of explorers as they set off on a seafaring adventure to discover a fabled and supposedly cursed treasure of a lost pirate captain. It’s all hands on deck in Codename: Expedition.
Since it's set after Case, I think it's going to be Walter Keene setting out to see if there are more Idols to get his stolen life back.
