>>715603421 >use self checkout >foeget to scan 1 (one) item >loss prevention hauls your ass into a room and threatens to sic the police on you unless you accept to pay a fine
this actually happened to me btw. fuck self checkouts. I will just enjoy chitchat with the nice wagie and not have to worry about getting run down by meatheads because I almost accidentially caused shekelstein to lose 4 dollars.

My closest Walmart got renovated and now there's only 3 registers to 19 self checkouts. You also have to stand in the self checkout line to get to the 3 registers. It's a fucking joke.

I didn't you illiterate nigger. >>715603745
I'm over it now, but it fucked with me at the time. Like you said, thay's just how it is in the cities. I get why they're implementing such measures if thefts are high, though I wonder how much it actually lowers organized crime. Just sucks how if you make a single fuck up suddenly you're a criminal without any recourse to defend yourself.

Over here they tried to push for it to become the norm but stealing skyrocketed. So some stores had a 100% controll rate, which made it slower and just as worker intensive as a normal check out. More and more stores are removing them. This is after about 5 years of use
>>715604153 >they tried to push for it to become the norm but stealing skyrocketed.
Yeah that sounds like my store as well. It sucks too because they're just cutting our hours while the store gets shoplifted and invaded by rats. Plus all the stock barely gets out to the floor because 2 people operate it at any given time and customers refuse to use self checkout for good reason. This could all be solved if they just gave us more hours.
>>715604152
pray it never happens to you, anon. I shopped at that store for 2 years using self checkouts when this shit happened. You think you'll never make a mistake checking yourself out until it happens. If you want to be a fag, fine; I'm just informing anons who still use it to watch out [if you live in the land of the free where corporations can detain you at their discretion].
>>715604404 >set basket next to scanner >scan item one by one until basket is empty >???? >profit
No wonder /v/ is shit at games. People here can't even scan 15 items without fucking it up.
>>715604753
It's more common than you think anon. I have countless customers that either don't know they're supposed to put items in the weight scale, run into issues with items not being in our system, or have coupons flip the fuck out. All causing the machines to panic and call us over.
>>715604869
Yeah, people are horrifically incompetent. It just baffles me. I see myself as a total fuckup, and I'm not exactly a methodical or meticulous person, but even I've never scanned my groceries wrong.
How do these people live when they are dumber than a cashier?
>>715606468
Its funny too because we have big red signs plastered on the machine itself on how to operate it and yet these problems keep coming up. My guess is customers are just looking to get the fuck out as soon as possible.
>>715603213 >please place item in the bagging area >please place item in the bagging area >item removed from bagging area >please place item in the bagging area >please wait for assistance
Self-checkout is a humiliation ritual.
>>715606615
True. It's probably less a lack of intelligence as it is them simply turning off their brain since buying groceries is unlikely to be the highlight of their day.
I must be some sort of daywalker since I'm terminally online, but retained my attention span even in situations that are mundane.
I have been using self-check outs for years and never had any problem with it. Is it some American problem that they are actually so lazy that they rather wait in line for 30min than take 1min to scan a few few items?
>>715606839
Partially. But the other half is that the machines are on lockdown here. It tries so hard to counter theft that it makes the actual use of it a pain in the ass. Easier for me to just ring them up.
>>715606839
The anon bitching about it is probably a nigger and got profiled. Ive been doing self checkout for years at Walmart and never had any issues when I forgot something. Once I forgot an 8-pack of toilet paper on the bottom part of the cart, walked right out no issues and only realized when I got home that I hadn't paid for it. This other time, I forgot to scan some shampoo, and the guy told me as I was moving out of the checkout and I just simply went back and paid for it. Nigger anon must have "forgotten" to scan some electronic or high value item and it either sounded the alarm at exit or got uppity with one of the workers when confronted.
>>715607143
Also here most places have a handheld scanner you just use to scan all items while shopping, which is super convenient as you can see how much it will all cost, can't get scammed by "fake prices" and can just instantly pack it in your bags.
Don't they have those in places like Walmart?
>>715607593
Even better than that. A good portion of items are actually from refunds by customers. They could have shoved the box up their ass for all you know.
