>>715610784 (OP)Thank God there's a thread up, I just finished this game and wanted to rant about it.
>Name a flawThe combat. Maybe it's because I'm too old or some shit, but the turn based/random encounter combat was so boring that by the end I just wanted it to be over. I'm hoping that I'm missing something key that I glossed over during the tutorial, but the entire game is just guessing at random monster's weaknesses, then once you find it just keep targeting it. There's no real change in mechanics from the very first palace to the very last; it's all just "guess the weakness" then exploit. And if you didn't guess correctly and the monster does too much damage to you, then just reload the save and retry the encounter with the esoteric knowledge of what the weakness was, and then wonder to yourself why you're playing "guess the weakness" when you could just Google every monster's weakness and not bother with the guessing, then you tell yourself 'b-but I'm taking all the fun out of it if I do that', and then you realize that 'guess the weakness' isn't a fun mechanic at all, in fact it's fucking so God damn boring. The entire combat system is just one big exercise if futility. And since every persona can learn every ability, they all play the exact same. Unlocking a new persona is essentially just upgrading your stats; sure sometimes you get a new ability you otherwise wouldn't have had access to until you get it from another source, but who cares, it's all just flat increases to your damage. And speaking of breeding, you're incentivized to save scum when you're breeding new personas, so much of the game is just using the fortune teller buff to trigger a velvet room alarm and then save scumming like a madman trying to get a specific skill passed down. I liked the story and characters just fine, but the combat is so awful that I can't be bothered with new game +.
