The room is physically not there. If you're inside and look at the door, the peace symbol is where it's at in that screenshot. Go out to the balcony to where the room should be from the outside and it's just some scaffolding there.

In the flashback that plays when you meet Paz for the first time in TPP has a retcon where they show the medic yanking out the second bomb out of her vagoo and the helicopter crash is caused by a missile launcher from the enemy chopper. Miller and Ocelot afterwards corroborate on that saying she survived and at then point early in the game, you don't really have any reason to doubt them or Venom's mental state.

I prefer MGSV to PW, but I don't think either is bad. They're not my ideal for the direction of the series, but they're still good games. For what it is--a deliberate retread/replacement of PO--PW is pretty impressive. I replayed it on my Retroid Pocket last year and had a good time, though the bosses are still grindy turds. I liked PW when it came out and still do.

I started playing the series after TPP came out
Started with 3 (3ds), admittedly skipped mg and mg2, then mgs1, 2, 4, PW and V
It's amazing how they all had something beautiful to say beyond just being great games. I think the only one that really made me get emotional was PW's ending (the first one), and I remember being shocked at the massive tone shift into gz
I don't know if I'll ever experience something like this again, which makes me a bit sad, but I'm grateful it happened nonetheless

It sucks that I missed out on all the insane shit happening in real time, but that's what poor gaming is like
Maybe if delta succeeds they can make something new out of the series. It won't be the same, and it won't have coco jumbo at the helm, but he was trying to find a new director to succeed him for a while anyway, right? She died during the original explosion. Ground Zeroes we play is an implanted memory used to train The Medic as Boss through hypnotherapy. It's based in reality but it isn't reality.
The Motherbase memories are Medic's own memory of the events breaking through. He feels guilt for failing to save the girl. Guilt does not care about reality so these scenes are also based on reality but they're blurred by time and guilt.
Venom is suffering from some sort of schizofrenia so he sees the memory of Paz haunting him in current day. He hears Paz' recordings telling him to move on. This is subconscious telling him to move on but just like all the characters of MGS he's trapped in the past. Venom fights because he thinks if he fights well enough, it'll bring him peace. It won't. Deep down he knows it won't. But he just can't bring himself to get over himself.

What people really want is less content or delivering it in episodic drips, but that does not always work out. Kojima tried that too with GZ and KOTF.
Kojima is the type to always add more until there is no time left. If they cut the game shorter no one would complain. But because there is always the promise of more content and then it stops it makes people angry.

Every ambitious game feels unfinished in some way because it can never fully deliver. So easy to be the ideas guy that always goes "BUT WHAT IF IT HAD THIS AND THAT IT WOULD BE PERFECT" yeah no shit. Game development is not that easy.
