Why tf is the fell xenolouge so fucking difficult on maddening? I beat it on normal for the story and rewards on another run. skipping hard mode entirely. I am on the post game currently. I swear you need to specifically build units, have bond 20, and use a lot of the shit units (saphir).
I got through chapter 1 and 2 without problem. Chapter 3 is absolutely brutal. I calculated that in order to one shot chicken knights you need to use a steel bow with a minimum strength of 23 an for chickens; for wyverns you need a minimum str of 34 for a one shot with steel bow, speed of 24 to one round wyverns. Longbow unfortunately cannot one shot chickens unless you get a str of 32. Heres what i got for deployed units

>celine + byleth
>etie + edelgard
Fogado + roy cause that mf fast and needs the +6 str to put him at 20 str. STILL wont one shot chickens, fix for that is str +4 which makes him cross the one shot threshold.
Saphir is the best unit, comes with a whopping 22 str+dex, and 17 speed. Slappin lyn on her bumps her up to 27 dex and 22 speed. Speed and str+2 minimum. She will one shot everything because mulgair.
Etie is trash, only reason shes there is because she had the closest to bond 20 with edelgard, alcryst + edelgard is superior in damn near every way except for -2 str. But speed and str on her to get her over the 23str threshold, speed so she wont get doubled by foot soldiers.

That's good, quite a few of your units feel like shit to use in the US version specifically because of 2x damage. Just be careful with your fliers though, they'll get pulverized by bows in most cases.

Lyn mode is a short part of the game takes place two years before the main story and doubles as a tutorial. The party resets after its over but levels stats will transfer over when/if you recruit the lyn mode units again. All units from Lyn mode do return for the main game. Wallace is a bit weird though and can be missed easily Lyn mode has very simple and short maps. When played on normal the tutorials are painful. Walking you though every single step. Very handholding. After beating the game you can replay Lyn mode on hard which disables the tutorials or skip to the main game being Eliwood/Hector mode. I honestly suggest for anyone who hasnt played fire emblem but wants to start with this one playing the game with a beat save file and playing Lyn mode on hard then swap to normal for Eliwood mode. Another thing items dont transfer and neither does permadeath. Any dead unit can be reobtained for eliwood/hector mode but I believe the level and stats reset

If the original game is shit then you are limiting the potential of the remake from the start and if the original game is great then you will probably end up with a worthless downgrade.

Prf (one-unit only) weapons are common in Heroes, like how Chrom can use Falchion in Awakening.
Prf weapons are usually gimmicky and/or strong.
Units without prfs just get weak generic shit.
To "fix" this, Arcane weapons were introduced, which are much rarer but also more like a prf.
They started releasing in 2021 with a sword.
Another sword did not release until May of 2023.
Now over two years later, we finally got another one to try and make regular units up-to-date. But the sword would have been bad even several years ago. And the powercreep is so strong now, this "upgrade" is worthless. But the "upgrade" is THE reason to get it.
