The G buttons honestly kind of suck. Itโ€™s cool that you can easily program them per game, but itโ€™s incredibly easy to squeeze them accidentally if youโ€™re gripping the controller intensely. I can imagine it would get worse if youโ€™re using gyro and you roll your fingers over the buttons when trying to get a certain angle.

No, and frankly they never will be since thereโ€™s no incentive to. Stick drift was the best thing to happen nintendo. If you make a good controller and sell it to a million people you make a million sales, but if you sell a shitty controller to a million people you make 2 million sales instead. Why else you think they did nothing to address stick drift with the new ones
Also the pro 2 sucks dick

Yeah like the carbon conductive pad or injection mold pad somehow has significant variance depending on when, where and who put the thing together. It literally comes down to some fanboy on reddit saying it's the the other persons fault for getting a bad controller, theirs is working just blastfully.

The right analog stick is kind of useless if you're not devoting both to direct character control, and I'm not talking about controlling the camera.
If you're not:
>Dodging
>Adjusting Tilt/Yaw/Roll or otherwise doing the work of a HOTAS
>Moving a second character or a horde of minions
>Performing some other character control input
Then a second analog stick is generally not that much better than 4-directional buttons and very inferior to a touchpad.

The diamond face button layout is kind of useless.
Dual stage triggers are also generally better than digital triggers.
It's also good to have split controllers as well, since those are ergonomically better and give you two motion controllers.
For motion controls it is also preferable to have some kind of absolute tracking system.

In short: They should have just refined the Wiimote more, just like everyone else was doing at the end of 7th gen, but instead they caved to tabletshit.
>>715625145
Absolutely. The traditional gamepad is the worst at everything unless the game gimps itself to cater to it.

Snoygger talking about games is funny, no games. Lol schizo is you, stop breathing, 2D platformers also exist which are better on fast responsive D-Pad.. But you are somehow the real gamer for playing "kojima" tier "games" on a "controller." Pathetic.

Fuck no. Specially not that one.
Instead of fixing d-pads, controllers decided to use annoying microswitches.
Analog sticks used to work quite well, but now everyone "needs" TMR sticks.
Haptics are not put to good use at all and some gimmicks are obnoxiously underutilized.
There's still multiple input standards and the one that's supposed to be hassle free (xinput) is also featureless because Microsoft is stuck in the past.
Valve refuses to release a new proper controller and instead releases a shitty Hori controller.

That's one of the reasons I hate both snoygger and nintendo's dpad format, its just awful if you need to press diagonals accurately, the only reason EWGF was hard on the controller was exactly because of dualshock style dpad. You can much more easily use a 360 style or the newer ones with a single cover to get the D-Punch motion with no fail.

At least the old ones still hold up to their quality in longevity unlike modern ones. If we use longevity as a mark of "joy" gained from a controller's use as a mark of quality:
> Logitech (These shitters will last a fucking submarine being crumpled by water pressure.)
> PSX (Lasts long as fuck.)
> Xbox360 (Would last you 8+ years before the cord would fuck up.)

For 2D platformers? You should be good for any up to the fifth console gen. I can only think of a couple of newer ones that use the right analog. I know Bloodstain requires it. Some games like Hollow Knight use it for extra camera control but are still playable without it.

Dualsense is still pretty shit that said, I have to fight it for diagonals and it'll somehow jump between down-right and right with my thumb low on the down button (picrel, 623A and holding the 3)

I watched the nerrel video and I was surprised to see how shit his dpad was.
And from the comment section under the video I saw claims of it both being good and others who reiterate nerrel's claims.

So it really as nerrel suggested, that there might be a huge variance in build quality for the dpads somehow for some reason?
But if so, why? How does such a thing even happen? The dpad on my ns2 controller is way the fuck better than my totk-edition ns1 controller, and that controller should be modern enough to have a modern ns1 dpad. And my ns2 dpad is easily better than it. And I mimicked nerrel's test myself and did a bunch of tests of my own. Not to mention how much better just feels under my thumb and the dpad pivot.

How are your dpads? Did you get a good dpad or is yours bad?

Hard agree. Every time someone tries to defend the Switch Pro dpad I wonder if theyโ€™ve ever actually played a 2D game on it. Itโ€™s like Nintendo stuck a soggy tortilla on there and called it a day. Same with Dualshock dpads after PS2 โ€“ mushy, stiff, and somehow both unresponsive and prone to false diagonals. Meanwhile 8bitdo casually drops better dpads on $30 knockoff controllers.

Even just from posts here it's pretty clear there's a lot of potential variance to d-pads. I've seen anons complain about diagonals being overly easy on Dualsense, but >>715634895 has the opposite problem. Some anons say Flydigi d-pads are great, some say diagonals are too easy, some say diagonals are too hard, some complain about being able to press left and right at the same time which is a blatant manufacturing error. I'd theorize there's little to no QC on d-pads as they aren't the primary input method for most games. There's not much incentive to put effort into them for fighting games either, as tournaments typically being hosted on Sony consoles means anyone not using leverless or stick is already funneled towards the "good enough" DS4.
