Playing on Hardcore mode, YAY or NAY?

Survival mechanics outside of survival games are just tedium. A time tax

Well, it isn't that difficult in Hardcore mode. Just remember to switch it off before starting Old World Blues, otherwise the game hangs (known bug).

Oh yea it’s gaming time

Nah, I just found it really annoying. Just adds a whole lot of tedium with little benefit.

If you’re autistic and like unnecessary challenge, YAY. If you’re not autistic, NAY because all it does is add debuffs that don’t feel immersive. It feels retarded having to eat/drink every 20 mins because day/night game cycle moves quickly. There’s no animations for eating/drinking either.

Ammo is weightless and companions are invincible with hardcore mode turned off. Also stimpaks don't heal instantly.
The eating/drinking/sleeping is an annoyance, the rest should be the default.

I enjoyed it more, honestly.

I just want the weapon ammo to have weight like hardcore and nothing else.

Anonymous No.715625632 [Report]
Sure. Sleeping part sucks ass though. At least thirst and hunger make the survival skill actually useful.

There are two things I dislike about it. One: your needs rapidly advancing when you fast travel. Some quests have you traversing to opposite ends of the map repeatedly. I think istewieai tweaks has an option to disable this.
Two: your companions being able to die. This literally only happened to me when they were far away off screen or when we would get ambushed by cazadores, and both of those situations are bullshit. You can toggle this off with the same mod.
Otherwise I love the rest of the gameplay changes

im going to be honest the thought of managing sleep, food and water does not seem fun to me, ammo should have weight though. Is there a point in playing JSawyer mod on normal mode?

A whole three posts before someone mentioned trannies out of nowhere. Might be a new record.

I say yea, because I have the natural tendency to roleplay by eating and drinking occasionally and collecting those healing items anyway, so it's nice to have an actual mechanics rationale for it.

Yeah, jsawyer does a lot of stuff, like distributing the pre-order weapons into the world instead of dumping them all on you at the start, adding DR to all the armor, and just various balance changes.
Anonymous No.715626682 [Report]
>>715626445
Yeah it rebalances a lot of things and is more fun overall, hardcore or no. I prefer using a jsawyer fork though. You can always use mods to crank need build up down to zero, so you can enjoy everything else.
Anonymous No.715626840 [Report]
>carry around some steaks from animals you can find anywhere and pose no challenge to kill
>carry around bottled water which is just a low STR tax
The only good part of Hardcore mode is companions occasionally dying, which can be interesting if you promise yourself you won't reload saves. One thing Fallout 76 does right is have creatures that can impart diseases if they land enough hits, which could have made Hardcore more hardcore.

Companion death just makes me not use them.

Ammo weight just makes me use less guns.

Eating/Drinking/Sleeping are annoying and only really a problem at the start before I make it to Vegas and win at casinos.
Anonymous No.715627596 [Report]
Nay. Hardcore just means more time spent in menus.

Buongiorno signore!
Anonymous No.715628049 [Report]
Yes, but I use an immersive eating and drinking mod to give hardcore a bit more character, otherwise it's an empty experience clicking on some items in an inventory to make a bar go down.

It’s a forced meme by Gen Z & A because Fallout New Vegas is childproof:
>2008 Fallout 3 graphics/gunplay
Gen Z & A fried dopamine receptors can’t handle old things
>heavy dialogue
Gen Z & A have low attention spans
>deathclaws/cazadors nearby to kill you if you ignore said dialogue
Gen Z & A cry at the first sight of trouble
>requires modding to make the game run super smoothly
Gen Z & A are tech illiterate
>minmaxers pick the gay perk for the damage boost so their Couriers are always gay
Gen Z & A aren’t creative enough to roleplay

This is why Fallout New Vegas is one of the best games of all time

I honestly like hunger mechanics in games because they always give food buffs I save forever if I didn't have to eat. Ultimately what sucks for me is the tedium of inventory management when you are dealing with restrictive slots/weight. But I do enjoy the added complexity of deciding on what materials to farm/sell especially if the farming is just deciding where you want to go while playing the game.

Hardcore by itself is like a mildly annoying mode.
If you want for hardcore to feel meaningful you need a mod like DUST to go along with it.

Not if you are experienced with the game and know how to make a good build. I have to play on VH and I still mow people down. It is what it is.
