It's basically the stock formula of

But because Minecraft doesn't have actual defined characters or a plot like Sonic does they had to invent an original story.
If you just want to see Minecraft stuff brought to life it does that well which is why it was so popular with kids but it's not a coincidence outside of that most of what you hear about it are just the memes and people making a mess in theaters.
