>It's $5 with the summer sales
>Look for mods: there are tons of fix/restoration/...
>Pick a couple of them, but it's already many gigas of download
>The game itself is 100+ GB because you have to get everything at once
>Launch ME1
>Scuffed interface from early 2000s
>There is not even two different mouse speeds for combat/non combat
This was $5, this was $5, this was $5.......ooooooooof......
I don't know what changed, but I would have instantly refunded this if I paid it $60 or whatever the release price was...

3 is for gays and bisexuals only. If you judge it based on how good it is as a campaign it's mid-tier compared to most vidyas out there, and it's actively terrible as a sequel of either ME1 or ME2 if you view them as standalone games.

it takes 3 games where the best game is an 8/10 and the worst is a 4/10 (OG 3) and turns it into a 9 or 9.5/10 experience (with mods of course)
the lost potential of the franchise and knowing you're still getting some form of the old plot/ending is a huge bummer but it doesn't detract from the 100 hour experience leading up to it as much as you'd think

2 is the better game in an overall failure of a trilogy, so that leaves me feeling like 2 was the best experience, followed by 1 because back in 1 you still have the illusion, and still a glimpse, into how the trilogy was shaping up before it immediately ruins itself.
3 is just frustrating on every level. It's a terrible sequel to the way ME2 pivots the trilogy and outright ignores most of its "plot", and it's still a stinky sequel to ME1 in that we already knew the Reapers ruined every civilization of all time, who tried everything against them, but still choose to make the whole plot about "saving Earth" for some stupid reason that makes no sense.

2 started that with the collector fascination with humans and the human reaper
I still stand by the dark energy plot being more interesting and sci-fi related instead of the Gear of War tier final stand where a bunch of tiny people shoot guns at a giant intergalactic death machine
and don't even get me started on the fucking star child bullshit

The human reaper was a mistake. Even if we grant the premise, why wouldn't these retard space squids wouldn't employ the humans themselves to create for a better symmetry? What the fuck do the collectors have to do with anything?

I feel like 2 is too good to throw away entirely. It could be a fantastic first act to the second game. Or a great second game in a quadrilogy. The fact that you only get one mission where you get to use your squad is a crime, and I think it's one most people let slide because they assumed the third game would just be collector base type missions. Having replayed the trilogy for the nth time this year, I didn't take a break between 2 and 3 this time and the shift in tone is just bizarre. It feels depressing going from a full ship and high stakes back to tard wrangling with a skeleton crew. Then you're suddenly solving all these 1000 year old problems in the galaxy. It's just all over the place. But that problem is consistent across all games, besides 1 obviously because it's practically self contained.

In ME1, what was the point of Saren attacking Eden Prime to get the beacon to find the location of the Conduit?
If he didn't go rogue he wouldn't have needed the Conduit to go to the council chambers in the first place
Also how did he even know about the Conduit beforehand when he first needed the Thorian Cipher to interpret what the beacon's message was?

There's a mod that makes the Citadel DLC the real ending. You can "fix" priority: earth using a mod called Take Earth Back, then make the Citadel DLC your epilogue. Oh and there's a Happy Ending mod too, but I haven't tried that one.

If youre into scifi and have read/watched a lot of it the world and lore feels insanely generic. Like a standard issue AI generated 'scifi world starter pack' I just find it incredibly dull. And people say it turns into gears of war at the third one but its already that in 2 and 1.
