Is this really effective against cheating? Seems like they're just shooting themselves in the foot to stop a minority of cheaters (best, cheapest and easiest to cheat nowadays is on console with a Cronus/Strike Pack btw)

nope and their newest anti cheating crap is kernel level, and does some shady crap too

>dual boot into windows
problem, officer?

anyone who plays games like this in their daily drive environment is fucking stupid. most western governments have laws in place that allow them to use any company they want to install trojans on your pc using game updaters.

Braindead moves by ea there.

Doesnt EA already use kernel level anti cheats? What is even the point of this?

>I followed the guide and my PC is now bricked. The error I'm getting is "Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup" this guide was written assuming that all players bought a machine from one of the major companies, with no consideration for the people who built their own PC. I now have a very nice paper weight since I can't afford a new motherboard.

People who refer to minor inconveniences as "bricking" need to be restricted to phones.

Only a minority of people care that secure boot has to be forced on. The overwhelming majority does not care

If they didnt force it, cheating would kill it
What they're doing is a no-brainer

>REQUIREMENT
>Supported Hardware
So is it required or not? If you can play the game on systems that don't support secure boot, what the fuck is the point? Other than Jewish schemes, of course.

It still thins the herd a bit. Even if only 40% of the players have machines that support it, that's 40% with enforcement, as opposed to not doing it and 0% have it enforced.
Your argument is like Benedict XVI saying "condoms only have like a 99.4% success rate in preventing conception, so you shouldn't even use them."
Something is better than nothing.

>we will REQUIRE secure boot to be enabled
>for pc hardware that can support it
so this mean they will still allow it to not be enabled for pc hardware that can't support it(read, they won't prevent you from playing if your hardware doesnt support secure boot), meaning it's literally not a requirement

why cant companies word things anymore and fumble in the first sentence every sinlge time

You'll buy it anyway.

You'll do it anyway.

Stop crying.

I'd say it's effective against everything that happens on the software level, and makes kernel level anticheats unnecessary, as you can't load anything nef into the kernel without it being detected.

The whole point of secure boot is you monitor the startup process from the get go, and you can't do fancy shit.

Kernel level anti-cheat is evil, not sure how these strike pack things work but you can't stop those just with software.

EA doesn't care about BF2042 bro, they are trying it for BF6. BF6 will most likely also have secure boot.
