As usual, the Japanese are vastly more patrician than Westoids. Just like how they shunned Final Fantasy XVI, they have also shunned E33 which they simply refer to as "なんとか33" ("Something or other 33") because the title of the game is too confusing for them. Game barely sold anything and basically made no impact at all in Japan.

Remarks online from Japanese users are things like "The characters look so generic and ugly" and "the gameplay doesn't look so exciting". For them I imagine it's like going to a sushi restaurant in France filled with white people preparing the food and serving it. They instinctively know nothing being served is "real sushi" and so they are disinterested and leave the restaurant to find another restaurant run by one of their countrymen. Who can blame them?

Why is Japan always right about everything? While Westerners are obsessed with astroturfing E33 to win the Keighley Awards, Japanese are literally fighting in the streets trying to procure the Switch 2 and rushing to buy Bananza. They barely even remember E33 exists. Extremely high probability E33 will also win no major awards in Japan.

Western developers can only make one kind of game effectively, and that's first person shooters. No Western game that isn't a first person game ever deserves to win any significant award. Western devs can make great first person games like Portal, Halo trilogy, Doom, etc. Japanese literally cannot into first person, this is why the Japanese had to outsource Metroid Prime to Retro Studios.

The thing is I have actually played all three of these games, and in every case I was completely confounded by how anyone found them enjoyable, or even comparable to similar games that came out in their respective years.

At least, when it comes to video games, I am definitely Japanese. I agree with Japanese audiences nearly 100% of the time and never understand Westerners.

Witcher 3 was one of the clunkiest and terrible RPGs I have ever attempted to play in my life. I gave up after 5 hours because the gameplay was genuinely disconcertingly bad and the framerate on PS4 in 2015 was complete dogshit. How western reviewers could not see that Metal Gear Solid V was unironically the absolute pinnacle of stealth gameplay (and also ran marvelously well even on base PS4) was astoundingly confusing to me. I did not understand the appeal of the game at all.

I would like to add here, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the greatest games I have ever played in my life. Again, this all comes back to the fundamental truth that Westerners are incapable of making a good game unless that game is in first person.

BG3 I actually put 80 hours into the game and just gave up after I realized I wasn't having any fun at all. It's a game about dicerolls and homoeroticism. I think the open endedness of the game is kind of interesting, but that does not necessarily translate into the game actually being fun.

E33 I did try but thankfully I only played it long enough to be able to refund the game on Steam. It just seemed like such a movie game I figured it was better to just refund the game and watch it on YouTube. Suffice to say, Nier Automata did this kind of storyline better.

Axiom I: The West has never once made a good game that wasn't first person.

Again, look at the examples: Portal 1 and 2, Halo Trilogy, Doom Games, Cyberpunk 2077. Ghostrunner 2 is probably the best western game I've played in years, and it's a first person action game. The West can create truly marvelous first person games, the Japanese cannot.

Axiom II: Every great game that is not first person is made by Japanese, or other asians.

Self explanatory. You cannot name one truly great game made by the West that isn't a first person game. All the most influential games in history (that aren't first person) were all made by the Japanese. The Chinese and Koreans are coming into their own now too.

Axiom III: The Japanese always shun bad games, or first person games.

Again: the examples are innumerous. Final Fantasy XVI, The Last of Us, Clair Obscur, the list goes on. The Japanese brain is not physically capable of comprehending first person gameplay, therefore they never play these games either (even if they are good). See how Xbox never made an impact in Japan, even at the height of Halo.

Now that we have established the three axioms, it becomes very obvious that Prime 4 is the best game of this year.

It is a Western game that is first person. It is a great game that is not made by the Japanese. And the Japanese will shun it, because it's a first person game. All realities of video games are easily reducible under the Three Axioms.

The Japanese have more gacha players per capita than any western country, so using their shit taste as a metric of quality makes you retarded.

I'm no fan of E33 but all this is just online cope.
The two real reasons are:
1) It's not on the switch or even the switch 2.
Japan quite literally only cares about the switch nowadays. If it's not on the switch it won't sell well over there. Simple as.
The only other gaming platform that makes money in Japan is mobile with gatchashit.
2) There was virtually no marketing.
No marketing in Japan. Japs only buy games that are heavily marketed and E33 (not being on the switch) barelly got any exposure from anything other than a few mid-sized youtubers.
