I've had one since launch and it's basically a switch pro, similar to how ps5 and series x/s were iterative upgrades to what came before them. If you're expecting some super fresh console experience, you will be disappointed--those days are over.
The launch game I have is MKW. If you never liked MK, this won't change your mind. If you like MK, some of the changes to grand prix structure might piss you off namely the "intermission" tracks. I think KO Tour is a fun new addition, and the open world is neat to dick around in and learn the courses. If you expect an ubisoft style check list of things to do and signposting though, you're better off getting groceries. I personally think it's 1-2 big patches away from being truly excellent--just needs a better way to track peach coins and blue switches and an option for traditional 3-lap style grand prix in solo and online, which should be easy to add.
Besides that, I've been really impressed with the Zelda upgrade packs. I might actually finish TOTK now. If the Kirby upgrade is just as good, it will be a banger. GC stuff on NSO is cool, but it does feel like something's not quite right with the inputs. Still totally playable imo but ymmv. System OS runs better but I still find the shop and overall organization of things lacking.
