I like it.
A having higher framrates and a functional e-shop UI is nice.

After DK, I'll probably get MP4 because why not

I'm waiting for them announce games I care about like a new FE, Xenoblade, Kirby, 2D Metroid, and WarioWare.

Hoping FDC shows up again, a Kid Icarus shows up eventually.

Was it worth the money, no. Is it better than a switch 1, yes. The graphical updates are nice but the battery life is a joke just like the original switch except processing 60fps depletes the battery even faster. I do like the feel of controllers better, and the 3rd party support, but considering I have a PS5, I’m waiting on switch 2 titles, and so far Mario Kart World has been disappointing, and I think DK looks like crap too. Still excited for MP4 and future Nintendo IP games, hopefully ZA isn’t utter garbage and the RTS battle system is a refreshing change.

Same deal as everyone else. Mario Kart is a nothing franchise to me, got it anyway because I'm not poor and wanted at least one Switch 2 exclusive to fuck around with, but if it weren't literally the only launch title, I wouldn't have bothered.

Mostly it's nice going back to old Switch 1 games and having the loading times being better or getting an update to run better on Switch 2 like with better framerates or whatever. Looking forward to Konky Dong, it'll be my first and possibly only physical Switch 2 game if they keep not having the actual data on the cartridges. Game keys are gay and pointless and I'll have nothing to do with them, I'm getting them to save space on the Switch 2's tiny ass internal storage, not just to have another case clogging my shelves.

Terrible console but good games incoming. Too much anti-consumer shit on the console side, online checks, mandatory updates, virtual game cards, key card games, retarded gimmicks like a chat button when they could've just added a chat option to the home menu. They went full retard on the system itself it's really a piece of shit. But the games look good which is more important.

I know Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Splatoon 3 got framerate updates, Mario Odyssey and 3D World + Bowser's Fury got updates to let you do the gameshare thing so you can play 2 player local online instead. BotW and TotK got Switch 2 enhanced versions that cost actual money that make the game prettier, smoother, and kill any slowdown the games had prior. There are others but mostly things just load faster.

Feels like I bought it more for potential than anything else. BotW in solid 60fps is delicious, but playing almost anything not updated for the 2 means locked 30 fps. No dips, but still 30 fps. One thing though is that it gave me the urge to play JRPGs again. Picked up Star Ocean remakes 1 and 2 and I'm enjoying them more than I expected. I just hope they patch the Xenoblade games for Switch 2 soon.

Nintendo has been making "secondary consoles" (i.e. own and Xbox and Nintendo or a PS and Nnintendo) for a while now, and the same applies here.

The problem is there's no reason to get it right now as a secondary console since pretty much everything is just enhanced versions of old games or worse multiplats.

Put simply, NO GAMES

Barring the lesser battery life aside, it's everything what I wanted the Switch successor to be.
Launch games have been pretty good too but I'm someone who has been primarily playing on a Nintendo console in the last few years instead of PC (and just recommend games to others regardless of the platform they use), so I do not really obsess over the notion of exclusives.

As usual from Nintendo, it's an underpowered console compared to the state of the art, but in the world of 2025, where both Sony and MS are in decline and there are no more exclusives, being the technological underdog doesn't matter anymore.

It is a must-get system, but give it six more months until the games are out. Personally, I want one so I can finally play Bayonetta 3 decently.

There are a few games that I'm hoping get Switch 2 updates to pretty them up now that they'd be able to handle it. Obviously not all of them will be able to, but big ones like Bayonetta 3 or literally all of Nintendo's own games so they can look smoother on top of having modern load times. I still have no idea how anyone was ever okay with how weak the Switch was.

I've read some posts in the thread already but only skimmed forgive my tardness, however I gotta ask you owners why not wait for the oled version? More games will be out by then, thats the only reason I personally haven't pulled the trigger on it. (I own a switch but haven't played much of the switches exclusives so a switch 2 for me makes sense for wanting to play the games at higher framerate)

So far it’s a purchase purely done out of FOMO induced by scarcity. There aren’t enough Switch 2 titles to warrant purchasing one, but you don’t want to get caught with your pants down when it eventually does get cool games. Mario Kart World is nowhere near the level of BOTW when it comes to justifying buying it at launch.

I've had one since launch and it's basically a switch pro, similar to how ps5 and series x/s were iterative upgrades to what came before them. If you're expecting some super fresh console experience, you will be disappointed--those days are over.

The launch game I have is MKW. If you never liked MK, this won't change your mind. If you like MK, some of the changes to grand prix structure might piss you off namely the "intermission" tracks. I think KO Tour is a fun new addition, and the open world is neat to dick around in and learn the courses. If you expect an ubisoft style check list of things to do and signposting though, you're better off getting groceries. I personally think it's 1-2 big patches away from being truly excellent--just needs a better way to track peach coins and blue switches and an option for traditional 3-lap style grand prix in solo and online, which should be easy to add.

Besides that, I've been really impressed with the Zelda upgrade packs. I might actually finish TOTK now. If the Kirby upgrade is just as good, it will be a banger. GC stuff on NSO is cool, but it does feel like something's not quite right with the inputs. Still totally playable imo but ymmv. System OS runs better but I still find the shop and overall organization of things lacking.

Stop embarrassing yourself. This is why people laugh at us. Nintendo doesn't "design screens", they aren't a screen manufacturer, they buy from a supplier. And Legion Go 2 is coming in September with a 120Hz VRR HDR OLED screen, it's not some magical new technology.

I bought most of it in 2022 and 2023 (obviously not the Switch 2) and back then the XSX and the PS5 (both purchased open box) put together cost less than a gaming PC that would have outperformed them. It's not really true anymore, but that's expected as time passes.

Anon. It doesn't have HDR. Clearly you never owned an actual HDR capable screen.
Let me give you an example of what real HDR is like. Imagine a scene on your screen with a white sheet of paper on the left hand side and the Sun rising behind the horizon on the right hand side. On an SDR screen, both the sheet of paper and the Sun will be just displayed with white pixels. On a real HDR screen, the Sun's pixels will be white but also searingly bright. The individual pixels can have differences not just in color but also in brightness. It's difficult to appreciate this until you've seen it because it's so unlike traditional screens. But if you know what it's like, you'll immediately see that the Switch 2 screen is not HDR at all.

Bought it as a Nintendo machine first and foremost. Playing Splatoon 3, beaten TotK on it after having skipped it on the old system. I mean it's alright. It feels just like a refresh of the Switch which is what it is. One thing I do like about it is how the screen and especially the sound feel when playing portable. I never played the old Switch portable, I hate handheld gaming but with this one? It's big enough that I kinda start to understand. I still had to buy the grips to hold it comfortably for an extended period of time though. I'm kind of disappointed in the power it has and that Nintendo avoided forcing higher framerates and resolutions on all old games (I understand this would complicate the compatibility layer but still) but at the same time I never expected too much out of a device that's supposed to be portable because if anyone's going to overcome power and cooling challenges it certainly isn't going to be today's Nintendo.

It's my first nintendo console and it's pretty good. The only two valid criticisms of the console are screen and game key cards. You can't defend the screen, but it isn't a big problem for me personally as I play 90% docked. Key cards on the other hand pisses me off. I was never a marioboy but Xbox 360 was a last good Xbox console, PS4 was a last decent playstation console and I feel like Switch 2 will be the last real console overall. People like me who value physical media and want to play complete finished games and not some f2p gacha slop are dinosaurs who are going extinct. People don't even care or think about those things now but for me it is the only current gen console worth owning just because Xbox and Playstation killed themselves.

The fact that they upgraded so few games to run better just demonstrates Nintendo knows how far it can get away with its greed because of its cultish fanbase. That’s why they waited a month to release the first actual game for it.

Lacks games and the hardware is extremely undercooked. Really unfortunate play experience with how garbage the LCD is and how high the input latency is. Docked experience is weird and incomplete too. The games it has are keeping up the routine of Nintendo games being farted out and massively flawed so they get swept under the rug even by the people who hype them up.

My thoughts are that Nintendo will drop the 120hz LCD screen for either a 90hz OLED like the Deck or go by the cheapest 60hz one and will do 120hz output by Dock.

>and how high the input latency is.
Lmao. You're right to shit on the LCD but you completely misunderstand the problem. "Response time" has nothing to do with input lag. It means it takes a long time for the pixels to fully change to another color. So you see the effect of your button press quickly, but the old frame also lingers, which leads to a blurry appearance.

Good job completely ignoring my reply to that post. Legion Go 2 will ship with a 120hz VRR OLED in two months, so it's not some magical impossibility.

There are both image persistence and input delay issues. Switch 1 already had high input latency (highest of all its peers.) Switch 2 is even worse.

I think it’s very good, though a bit short for a vn. The Mages are behind it, so that’s a guarantee. Maybe wait for a sale but definitely get it.

>day 1 switch owner
>day 1 switch 2 owner
>also own ps5 pro (all my irl friends have a ps5 so I moved from pc gayming)

things I like:
>the display is nice, no idea what the complaints are about
>the OS is simple but just werks
>the online membership offering is quite good in terms of value
>joycon magnet feature is a huge step up
>for the games i enjoy: mario kart, splatoon, animal crossing, it's great

things I don't like:
>the size — i prefer smaller handhelds personally
>the joycons take a couple of seconds to connect when you first awaken it from sleep mode
>battery life isn't great but it's not really portable anyways so I guess it doesn't really matter

overall I think this will be a good purchase in the years to come. right now, i'd only recommend to someone who didn't really play the big games on a switch 1 or those who are hardcore nintendo game fans.

i still play most of the multiplat games on my playstation because of the better performance.
