here's one: make battle system all based on posting, with Attack=Post, Guard=Filter, Run=Sage, "Bait" raising your defense, "Lust-provoking post" lowering enemies defense, "You-farming" being a heal, "Reasonable post with thought-out opinions" being a literal meme skill that does nothing, etc.
Also, add a big tity woman with romance, that has 0 correct dialogue options so you can't actually succeed in romancing her

Be sure that in the starting area there's an object (something like a closed door, or a drawer, or fuck, whatever, a dildo, I don't know) that you seemingly can't interact with because it "does nothing", but if the player interacts with it once, somewhere else some NPC will slightly change their dialogue, which will in turn open a secret passage somewhere else when interacting with this NPC in a forest somewhere, where the last piece of equipment needed to 100% game is.
But make sure that if the player interacts with the dildo twice, the player is locked out of it and there is no indication of such, either.

NTA, but 2003 at least has Maniac's Patch which let's you do some wild shit. Only problem is there isn't much documentation and you need to rely on a very small community that experiments with it, most of whom are Japanese. You will also have to think outside the box to experiment for a lot of solutions which can get trickier, but it does yield better results in the long-term.
MV/MZ has the most custom plugins you can use, same with VXA, but MV/MZ is newer.
XP is kind of the black sheep because it never got as much support as the other ones did.

You should do it anon, it's fun. I made a quick, glitchy little game in XP without any experience or guide and it sucks but it was nice to make something playable.

I think rpgmaker games are decent as beginner making tools to familiarize yourself with databases, variables, triggers and such but I feel they're too restrictive. If you want to make a custom system such as a pretty UI you pretty much have to learn an entire scripting language.
