I dont enjoy vidya anymore
34 y/o here
I think im done for good.
I took a 6 month break from vidya because I wasnt really enjoying them.

I tied again, and I still fail to find joy in them.
I used to spend countless hours playing vidya, but now I just boot them and think "why bother"
I tried new games, old games, games I had on my backlog, games I played in the past, and games I had on my wishlist.
Nothing.

Ok, modern woke slop, I understand why its bad for you. But if you can't enjoy old games made before 2007, then something is unironically wrong with you. I would go out for a jog and exercise more if I were you. Also get your test levels checked by a doc

Just take a break and come back some other time, friend. I quit during the xbox 360 generation of games because they were so shit on average and I came back about 2 years ago with a gaming pc, I'm catching up on all the good games and it's been great. Maybe don't take that long of a break but a year+ is good for your soul.

I'm 28 and the most fun I've recently had with new games was when I played a Grand Startegy game for the first time, or when I played a Bloober for the first time. I'm not kidding, I've put in over 2K hours into HOI4 and CK3 combined over the last 2 years. Playing a new genre will give you a psuedo sense of discovery that is unlike playing a new/old good game from a genre you're already familiar with.

Genre fatigue is a thing and as games get more and more derivative, genres start to feel the same. Trying new genres alleviates that somewhat.

You have depression
Anonymous No.715728015 [Report]
Not the same and I'm 34. I get that feeling once in a while but usually with a few days to a couple weeks, the interest comes back.
99% of the time it's depression, not actually losing interest in something after spending your entire life enjoying it.
I just say to myself "yeah whatever" whenever another friend my age says he's done with vidya, and they're always coming back eventually. I have a cousin in his 60s that still plays them so whatever.

Most 30s anons here get depressed because they spent their 20s being happy and now have nothing to show for it. If they survive, then they hit their 40s and stop caring.

up until your 20s you're just a dumb kid
by 30s you should be a parent and if not then it's in your nature too feel like a failure
if you survive the guilt until the 40s then you're good

Skill issue.

I'm 37 and still love games. It is harder to find time to play them without guilt (stop using 4chan for more time), but I love them as much as ever. Don't force yourself to play if you don't like gaming, but maybe you just need a new genre to try. Or find another hobby entirely, up to you.
