Pure lies. I have never felt the need to buy repair kits. The game even doles them out to you for free and I routinely destroy repair kits to free up inventory space. This is just a flat out lie.

This is only true up until level 100. Once you are level 100, enemies stop leveling with you and all the perks and gear upgrades you get beyond this point begin to matter.

I do enjoy finding crap to decorate my base with. It's actually kind of fun. But not everything is purely decorative, that is a lie. There are quite a few resource/food/chem generators you can build that will greatly help you. It's not 100% for decoration.
