I've been playing Bananza for like 3 hours, and the performance issues people have been shitposting about here are completely overblown, especially on handheld mode. There are some drops here and there, but aside from that one bossfight, the game is almost always 60 FPS. The framedrops are like

no, technical level. as-in everything is a loading screen instead of seamless even though we have the technology to easily do it these days.

it feels like Oblivion or Fallout 3 at a technical level and the engine feels pushed well beyond what it is capable of.

for example why can't you just set course for a planet and fly to it in a space game? i understand it is far away but it would be absolutely great to have auto pilot kick in while you had scenic views from the ship while you talked to the crew. people actually tried and you literally just fly through a PNG and cannot actually go to any of the planets without fast travel.

this isn't even addressing the ridiculous amount of other issues the game has like the writing or the randomized npc abominations, they all look like meth addicts.

it's literally the most rote version of skyrim/FO4 with none of the inherited legacy charm of those settings. the planets are literally copypasta empty expanses with nothing to do, the characters are cookie-cutter and lifeless, the aesthetic is if someone watched Alien and thought "hmm, this has a little too much soul", the framerate is inconsistent on most high-midrange machines, and the gunplay remains as stiff as it was in FO4.
None of these complaints have to do with muh-super-sekrit-spess-keenoh not being there (it's not). it's a legitimately lousy, dogshit product, and the only people batting for it are todd howard and the people who had intense buyer's remorse paying extra to play it like 3 days early.
hell, it's how you know todd is creatively bankrupt: the one game he directs that's entirely his own vision for the world is the one where the inherent likability of the lore and ambience can't offset todd's terrible direction.
