It takes 11 of a given mineral to actually forge a +3 bronze. This is a fact. So if you don't have the desired mineral, then add 5 of the throwaway mineral to the total cost. Whatever, you will only do this once.
The overarching point is that you CAN get some +3 bronzes in your run on original hardware, no hacks. It's realistic. I get sick of arguing with anons who just won't even try things, but are confidently incorrect. I've never hacked gems and I always manage a few +3s. Which you can then pass around the team as needed, it's not like they're going to break any time soon.
