Kill or be killed is a radical departure from normal life at this point, it's understandable for anyone to have some hesitation about it, but he gets the job done anyway

It was demonstrated at various points that, for one reason or another, a monster may eventually regain its sanity and start being a normal person again so going into their homes to raid their shit and kill them may very well be killing a potential normal person who otherwise posed no risk to anybody that didn't trespass on them

When does this game get good?
I'm at the labyrinth on I think floor 1. I don't hate it, but my buddy absolutely loves this game, to the point he gifted it to me, and I'm not really finding it very compelling. The writing and presentation I like a lot, but the combat in particular feels more like an arbitrary checklist to determine if I'm allowed to beat a fight or not. I have Joel, Helen, and Sophie, as my party members, I haven't had the opportunity to recruit anymore, and the continual returning to Sybil, while neat at first, is quickly grating on my patience as I have to keep returning to her if I don't want to risk losing the past 15 minutes of progress.

I'm currently paused on the plant area in the labyrinth, since looking some stuff up online made it clear the taxidermy area is not where I'm supposed to go right now (despite being another new area in the starting area, where every other time it was steady progression), and through my disinterested looking through reviews and discussions it feels a lot like a Wario Land 3 type of deal. Where the dev is just designing "spend a lot of time to try again" as the punishment for failure, and desu while I'm enjoying the writing and visuals, I'm really not enjoying the exploration and combat parts enough to want to keep playing.

Again, I'm not struggling, I've only died once, every other time I've been managing resources, combat, retreating and advancing, etc, fine and currently have a pretty hefty surplus of stuff. If the plant area is another area I'm not supposed to go to, and there's instead another area with weaker monsters, I doubt I'd struggle with said hypothetical area, but I'm just really not enjoying the gameplay part of this game and wanna know if it gets better in the rest of this labyrinth. I'm asking when actually playing the game, instead of just watching a playthrough on youtube, goes from "fine/a bit annoying" to "wow this is great!"

Entire companion system is shit in this game. They make the game way easier but also you get them by sitting your apartment, which you wouldn't want or think to do on your first few days. And since enemies are limited XP is limited so first few bozos you get are the ones you will be using for entire game.

Sybil was the leading member of the astrologists and was the first to see the visitor through a telescope. After that she starts loosing her physical form and mind, needing to be assisted by Jasper until she was just a puddle of flesh. Jasper then takes the role of head astronomer. My two biggest complaints are that their is no genocide run ending, why put in the option to kill everyone if their isn't a special ending for it? Secondly the game sets up this big killing off a side of you metaphor (Jeanne, Fredric, Sam's mirror thoughts, the astronomers wanting to ascend) and does nothing with it.

I think the escape after three turns thing is weird, it discourages stealthiness because once you're in combat it's almost always better to fight instead of get pummeled for two turns trying to run. It should be the reverse, after 3 turns escaping is much less likely.
