In Mother 1 it was sweet and alright and i liked the twist of how it was the great grandmother who sang that lullaby to the Alien.

In Earthbound it was the most cancerous shit i've everp layed, ever, having to constantly revive that BITCH Paula just so she can pray repeatedly, holy fucking boring. Even cheats wouldn't work in that fight, Earthbound sucks so much. And the player itself being the one who prays for the final boss to die, holy cringe.

The Giygas fight is still one of the weirdest and most unsettling boss encounters in any game. It's not even a fight in the traditional sense, it’s just this abstract descent into madness. The whole idea that he “cannot be grasped” and the baby cries in the background? Pure nightmare fuel. Itoi really just injected his childhood trauma straight into that battle and called it game design. Still, I gotta admit, even if EarthBound feels like a meme sometimes, that moment sticks with you.

However Mother 3's Leder info dump is so much more egregious. 3 takes its own story so much more seriously, too, which makes that part even worse. With the apple of enlightenment you can sort of disregard it, which I'm sure most people do, it's not a big deal in the story. Meanwhile Leder's info dump nearly ruins Mother 3's story with how fucking retarded it is.
