i loved Fantasy life i and i wished fucking Animal Crossing wasn't time gated so hard.

I really do think it would make things a lot better to just let /fur/ exist.

The problem isn't furries specifically, it's that consistent failure to remove people who astroturf threads, and pruning threads that are going well means a lot of people have given up on actual discussion, only posting memes and porn. And jannies prune OC too, so really it's just porn.

If you go to a site with real moderators rather than university professors, it's a bit better. Sure, whatever image board you went to while the site was down had less traffic, but it didn't have this on it's main board.

I think it's the other way around. The threads always devolve into hornyposting, so no one even bothers having a real discussion, assuming any given thread about games with anthropomorphic animal characters to be veiled invitations to hornypost. If they actually had a board to put all that stuff on, without having to cohabitate with some of the worst fetish content in the world, I'm sure the level of discussion would improve elsewhere on the website. Namely here.
If these guys could post their Punchys and Bobs and Sashas on /fur/, they wouldn't feel the need to do it here as much, and real threads would likely return in their place.
We already know that's more or less what would happen. /aco/ cut down the hornyposting on /co/ by a lot. Not 100%, but it's a huge improvement.
Unfortunately, /trash/ just isn't sufficient.

They'd probably also cut a decent chunk out of their money issues by adding /fur/. That ad space would be some of the most demanded on the whole website. There would be a lot of artists advertising commissions and such. There would probably be so much demand that they'd have to raise the price for /fur/ in particular, and they'd probably still sell out.
It just makes sense. Even if it's selling out, or compromising on a longstanding tradition, it's still worth it to keep this place in good order. There's nowhere else like it on the internet, and I can't imagine what would happen if it went under for good someday. The hack was scary enough.
