remember when both sony and nintendo had free online and full backwards compatibility with discs AND digital games that could be played on multiple devices across different gens? they used to be consumer-friendly
>>715766158 (OP)You can thank Microsoft for that.
>>715766158 (OP)I'm just going to jump in here to say I wish we could go back to 70% of this board being Sonybros vs Nintentards and endless console war shitposting. I hated it, and it was terrible, but fucking hell it was better than things are now.
>>715766158 (OP)>backwards compatibilityUntil the Wii, no Nintendo console was backwards compatible. Game Boy Advance sure, but DS dropped GB/GBC support.
>>715766302DS phat and DSlite has gba support but not for multiplayer. DSi didn't have anything at all. The micro doesn't have gbc support too for some reason
that's why i'm PC-only now. never had xbox, but their gamepass seems like the best deal for consoleshitters these days
>>715766312Correlation does not always imply causation.
>>715766158 (OP)xbox killed gaming
ironically tho xbox has the best box right now in 2025
>>715766158 (OP)but they both had pretty shitty online. What's to look back at?
>>715766158 (OP)>digital games that could be played on multiple devices across different gens?the shitch 2 is actually the first nintendo console to have this, granted i still prefer their pre 2017 consoles
>>715769281And it was the year the world died
>>715769281Aside from Xbox Live, the original Xbox was an absolutely perfect console. It was that generation's PS3 in terms of power and functionality. Of course I was around back then so I have no idea what a zoomer like you is thinking posting this shit.
>>715766158 (OP)It was also barely functional dogshit.
Will the PS6 play PS4 games?
>have to pay for online
>there aren't any servers
>every game is peer to peer only
>>715766158 (OP)Beats Valve who doesn't let you own games
>>715773026PS3 plays 1, 2, 3
PS6 plays 4, 5, 6
You'll only need to own two PlayStation consoles in 2027 to play all the generations.
>corpo
>consumer friendly.
Why do people believe corpos would be consumer friendly in any way? What you see as consumer friendly is merely a trick to get more money out of you. If it stops being profitable they'll stop doing it. People seem fine with paying for online services so it stuck. Bad trends in gaming stick because people supported it enough. You literally are getting what you paid for; the good and bad of whatever comes with it.
