30-45 minutes on Normal difficulty, about half the cyber modules are handed for following the main storyline, the other half for exploration, just rush the storyline avoiding combat as much as possible until you can afford the power then loop back to explore what you've missed.

remake, default difficulty (i believe everything set to 2)
im currently using the rapier(most of the time, actually), minipistol, magnum, and have recently found the rifle, but im already kind of running low on ammo for that too. Rapier is really powerful so its okay i guess

Use the wrench on every single enemy besides turrets and suicide bots. You'll be surprised how feasible it is. Pick up the shotgun shell from every shotgun hybrid you kill. You'll be swimming with shotgun ammo in no time.

yeah the ammo situation in the remake can be a little dire. keep in mind some enemies are weaker to some ammo types. use your grenades often.

consider that you have a bunch of powerups in the form of patches. mix that with the turbo motion booster and rapier and you should be unstoppable if you're quick enough.

Even with all my experience I'll commonly run out/extremely low on one ammo type. Be it shotgun or pistol/rifle even grenades. In my experience the key was to just have at least two different weapon types at one time. Which sounds like you do anyway so I dunno. Like others say even if you put no points into melee weapons the wrench is always a workhorse, basic cryokinesis from PSI can help plug a few ammo related holes. Or my personal favorite which is carrying three energy pistols on me at the same time for my energy weapon runs.

2 combat
2 mission
2 cyber
3 puzzle

The puzzles are quite easy so I always choose 3. Just be aware that the puzzles involving the wires have little lights above the wires themselves indicating how much power they provide.

Mission 3 will give you a time limit of 10 hours.

Here's what they do in the remake if you're interested

Combat - As this goes up it increases the damage you take, reduces damage enemies take, increases enemy aggression by having them follow you greater distances and increases the overall number of enemies, including respawns. Less health is provided on player respawns as combat difficulty goes up. Furthermore, security level requirements for some doors and devices will also be harder.

Mission - On level 1 you receive navigation points on the map showing you where to go next and cannot drop plot items. On level 3 a ten hour limit is imposed on the game and restoration stations must be active on the level you're currently on or you will die permanently (though on most bosses or in beta grove you will die regardless of any difficulty settings). 2 has neither the navigation points and plot item carrying nor the time limit.

Cyber - As this goes up it increases damage taken by enemies in cyberspace. On cyber levels 2 and 3 you can take damage by hitting the walls in cyberspace. On 2 only you take a little real world damage if you die in cyberspace but won't die yourself, only go to one hit point. On level 3 only, death in cyberspace means death in the real world (but you can still respawn). In addition, your cyber level changes the number of respawns you are allowed for the final boss with 1 being infinite and 3 giving only one life.

Puzzles - Simply increases the difficulty of the two types of puzzles as this goes up though only slightly so. The chess game in Delta Grove may or may not be affected.

Power Armor was where it always was for me on impossible (that room with the emp rifle on one of the hydroponics offshoot maps).

I think the most notable item placement change with regards to difficulty is that in the body of the many there's a hazard suit on Easy/Normal that isn't there on Hard/Impossible, I think the way it works is that the difficulty you're currently on affects the first time you load a map in a playthrough, then if you switch it later it's not gonna delete or replace items on that map.

Weapon-less OSA doesn't really have separate builds. Your offense is Pyrokinesis + Adrenaline-boosted Wrench. The rest of the build is whatever you need to survive.

7/18/2025, 1:47:59 PM No.715790508
I descended into hell itself for a face-off with the devil herself, and once again, the fight was a little nonsensical and not that difficult at all, just hack the terminals and you're golden. Then, my game went back to the title screen because the cutscenes don't work (for some reason they worked at the beginning of the game, but not now. Ugh.), so I looked up the ending on YouTube, and I could not believe what I had watched.

At first, I thought it was a joke, a cheeky edit by whoever had uploaded the video and was playing some SilvaGunner-esque prank on whoever thought this was the real ending, and I found another video hoping it would be a little more sensible. This was no prank. This...thing was the real ending to the game I had just completed. I was floored. I was shocked. I was in pure disbelief. I couldn't believe all the tension, all the fear, all the worldbuilding and character development that the game had built up over it's 20-hour runtime, culminated in something so lame and cheesy it makes the average Gmod video look like Shakespeare by comparison. I was insulted, saddened, and angered: I felt like I had been stabbed in the back. I took the game so damn seriously, expecting to be rewarded for my commitment, and this is how they treat me? This is the ending I get after 20 hours of hell? These were the thoughts that ran through my head as I closed the video. These were the thoughts that ran through my head as I read the video's comments, perused forums, and even learned the development history behind this atrocity of a conclusion. These were the thoughts that ran through my head as I began to type this. What I had just experienced almost invalidated everything I had been through. The amazing atmopshere, exciting gameplay, engrossing story: all of it was eradicated from my memory because of this one awful moment, this two-minute cutscene in a twenty-hour game.

Normal is fine as long as you don't spend cybermodules on any of:
>Energy and Exotic weapons
>Repair tech skill
>PSI stat and powers
Repair is just all around dogshit, while the others require good knowledge of gameplay fundamentals and a well planned character build to make good use of.
Also make sure to learn how to kill weak enemies with Wrench. Ammo is scarce in this game, especially early on, and extremely tedious to farm if you waste too much of it.

The game gives you enough modules to max one combat skill on impossible. Therefore someone playing on normal where modules go way further can afford to fuck around with energy or exotics and still do fine.

I've checked - you need 868 out of 875 modules on Normal difficulty for a noob-friendly max build with zero ENR and EXO. Considering that a blind new player will likely miss quite a lot of the optional cybermodules, that's not really an option. At best he's gonna take like one to three levels and then wonder why laser pistol seems to suck.

Where are you getting 858?
4 strength and 4 cyber cost 26 each, so 52 in total. 4 strength is enough for all weapons and the medium armor, 4 cyber is enough for hacking.
6 agility and 6 endurance cost 106 each, so 212 in total. Can't do better than max.
4 hacking+4 maintenance+research cost 35 each, so 105 in total. 4 hacking is enough to hack turrets, 4 maintenance is enough to maintain anything but the EMP rifle and get good use out of tools, 4 research is enough to research nearly everything (fuck you annelid launcher you suck).
Ignoring psi because a blind new player doesn't need to deal with that.
That's 369 modules spent in total, which leaves a massive amount to spend on weapons. And that was with me assuming you somehow skipped character creation so you started with every skill at 0. What the hell is your build?

I've assumed that a novice player would also want
>6 Strength for max inventory slots (carrying 5 weapons + all the ammo for them takes a lot)
>6 Cyber-Affinity (very easy to get with only base CYB 3, but newfags may not know how to)
>6 Hack (for the super crates and extra reliability for hacking everything else - not necessary but newfags may not know that)
I've probably miscalculated somewhere and the total cost (with STD 6 and HEV 6) is closer to 800, maybe a little lower.
But the main point is that ENR and EXO are very noticably inferior to STD and HEV unless you're fully dedicated to them and know how to use them optimally. I've seen so many new players claiming they got a point in ENR, tried out Laser Pistol and immediately declared it absolute garbage and a waste of resources.

6 cyber affinity is pretty unnecessary, I also used hacking on my first playthrough and didn't feel the need to go that high. Energy really is a deceptively clowny weapon skill because the best way to use it isn't obvious at all.

The secret is to carry two pistols and only use overcharge shots. Because you have two you can just switch to the other after shooting so the long recharge doesn't matter, and you get double battery size as well. The only problem is all your damage is energy type and spiders resist that so it takes forever to kill them.

The buffs are good. The agility and cyber ones are cheap to learn+cast and last a long time so you can keep them running forever for way less module cost than increasing the stats. And they can break the normal cap so you can get 8 agility and go super fast if you want.
The no durability loss power is good if you want to use EMP rifle because fuck that maintenance requirement. Adrenaline gives you hilariously high melee damage (you can theoretically do eight times damage with it, though in reality you'll more like triple which is still really good). The recharge power is good for recharging things. The heals are really strong, but once you're good that's not too important since you get a lot of healing items. The turn invisible power is incredibly good for some areas (just run through body of the many without giving a shit), but tier 4 costs too much.
Damage powers aren't so good compared to standard weapons, but that's mostly because standard is overpowered. Everything is bad compared to standard. Maybe someday you'll be in a weird mood and want to try something different and then you can use them.

Terrible advice. There are some really great energy weapons and the crystal shard is a decent exotic. Psi powers in tiers 1 and 2 are extremely strong, especially regeneration

Psi powers are ridiculously strong. Having +2 agility, +2 cyber, +15% damage reduction, regeneration, an early low cost projectile attack, localized pyro (which has a shitload of different uses), +2 strength and adrenaline (which multiplies melee damage by a factor of psi) is just insanely useful from early to endgame and low cost. I always start OSA and always end up better off than my Marine and Navy starts.

Maybe. EMP rifle does require 6 energy but it deals ridiculous damage and when modified uses only 1 power per shot effectively giving it unlimited ammo.

>sharpshooter O/S upgrade
Yes but use the tinker O/S as well if you're playing the remaster or SCP mod. Boosts damage of modded weapons even further

>activate anti-entropic field, keep cycling through the pistols to shoot overcharge shots
In the remaster the "bug" is back so you can just toggle to overcharge.
