Realistically, will Chad Houses ever be surpassed or will it always be the best-selling (objectively best) Fire Emblem game? The series cannot even reach half its sales now.

Three Houses is already punching fucking high above its weight class for an SRPG considering the two 3DS FE games were already an anomaly for its franchise and its genre.
Anybody that cared about FE were correctly getting Fates flashbacks from the Engage previews. I get that because 3H and Engage's development was so staggered it was probably impossible to meaningfully make huge recalibrations once the 3H numbers started coming in and kept going. But the dev interviews have a bewildering misunderstanding of why Awakening succeeded where other FEs, even ones on non-Gamecube Nintendo platforms, never hit those numbers. Nobody that actually spends money cares about shit before Awakening and they gotta stop thinking that kind of nostalgia baiting is going to translate into sales when the nostalgia they're trying to bait for doesn't exist.
IntSys will probably take the wrong lesson from all the sales and player data, and think the next FE needs specifically an Edelgard carbon copy, and not just make a compelling story and setting with, yeah, a hot babe at the center of it all doesn't hurt.

Beyond that, Switch 2 has barely been on the market for a month and a half. Something like FE or Xenoblade doesn't really test its market saturation but also a non-Pokemon Nintendo RPG isn't on the platform yet so we don't know how many people in that market are making the early jump. Another question is, is Engage where FE's new baseline is? It hasn't been updated from 1.6 million since 2023 so it's still behind Awakening, much less Three Houses. Is that the number of people that will show up for an FE no matter what?

Three Houses is a wonderfully paced game because the school section is so wonderfully feature rich, and the resource management the game tasks you with is both straightforward while presenting the player with lots of interesting decisions.

Not only that, but the way the school section of the game gives the player so much choice in how involved to be in the school aspect and what they want to do, it's a perfect pallet cleanser from the intensity of the game's battles.

Tasks like the question box and fishing challenge the player in small but different ways. They may seem insignificant, but things like this are why the school section feels so fleshed out compared to something like Fates' My Castle.

In fact, my first impression of the game was that it went too far in the opposite direction, that I was spending too much time between battles. Of course that isn't the case the further you get into the game.

Is it? The character artworks look good but you won't ever see those ingame, meanwhile the portraits look so cheap.
And the horrible ingame graphics, animation and lack of polish heavily take away from what would be good character designs Which I don't even think 3H has that many of
