Also ironically Rick has done such a good job of running EVO that it has become more international Combo Breaker in Vegas. Therefore, unless you are (1) geographically closer to Vegas than Chicago, (2) a top player, (3) craving international competition, or (4) have an itching to go to fucking Vegas for some reason, there is no actual reason to go to EVO over Combo Breaker. EVO is just way more expensive. Having gone to EVO 2022 and 2023 I can say it's a very similar experience to CB just a little bigger in scale.

Kain I can kinda understand being so strong, devs often underestimate the strength of setplay in series that haven't traditionally had it because they try to make up for the 'complexity' by tuning up other parts of the kit that don't need it, his best routes and the ways to get good mix out of them aren't trivially obvious(though they're not really hard either) so maybe they got overlooked, his rev blow was a lot worse during development and maybe they were overvaluing that and balancing around it etc, there's at least a bit of a rational possible there.
But Hokutomaru and Mai being in the same game is just ridiculous, there is no way they were designed by the same people and at no point during development did anyone on the team have any sort of understanding of both of them at the same time.

Is it over for SNK? Realistically, Fatal Fury was their last, real big chance to make something big or/at least more popular than what they've been putting out. However, they put out something that was very low-budget and unimpressive out in front of the eyes of the wider new Fighting Game audience. To me, I'm thinking they're just fucked. It's over. They honestly should just stick to their thing of whoring out their characters to other companies and their games. That's about the only time these days SNK anything is loved and engaged with anyway.

Too expensive to travel to for most people who don't have good jobs. I watch too many online weeklies. I got 2-4 games to watch every day but Monday. Marvel 2 is not that fun to watch. I would rather watch Infinite (and I do).
