They live on a cycle where they get popular for a few years, then die off, then get a cult following, then blow up, then fall off again

When they were "good", skill meant memorising blockstrings and esoteric character matchups. Now the inputs are mostly automated and every interaction is a coinflip where your actions don't matter.

esports is only popular in third world countries and there are no f2p fighting games for esports.

You want technical movement, freeform/dynamic combos, esoteric matchups, no comeback mechanics, and no slime rush?

I have the game for you but it's going to filter you hard at first.

I couldn't find people to play with so Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11 just sit my library unplayed

People are going to use 2XKO flopping as an excuse to never try the F2P model in a fightan game again.

Third Strike killed the genre by introducing mandatory frame counting autismo parrying nonsense.
Then every other genre had to catch up by introducing their own over-complicated mechanics.
People who had spent nearly a decade learning how to play fighting games since world warrior in 1991, and having a good time doing it, now had to re-learn an entire PHD's worth of rules and systems and mechanics not just for the genre, but for every single new fighting game that got released, and it continues to this day.

It's just stupid. Nobody has time for that.

I was happy when I heard the latest Guilty Gear failed. That series is awful besides the art style. How did it even get a sequel it sells even worse than low sellers like Soul Calibur and Marvel vs Capcom.

Still a lower seller compared to Soul Calibur which already is also a weak selling series. And no way Arc System is genuinely happy with such sales given developments costs for Guilty Gear include detailed animation. This isn't a cheap anime game like Tales Of or Dragon Quest, Guilty Gear has more in common with Darkstalkers in terms of detailed frames for the anime designs and that takes time, work, and money.

A confusing argument. Dragon Quest has less detailed models and effects sure, but it also has hundreds of models and locations. Strive is just a fighting game. I would be highly surprised if Dragon Quest XI had a smaller budget than Strive.

Strive was their first title to surpass 1 million sales. I'm certain they are more than happy with those numbers.

Idk but I'm glad they did. Violence is never the solution and young men have enough bad role models as it is.

I can find articles saying Strive sold 3million, and SC6 selling 2 million. Where are you getting your numbers buddy?

Fighting games may need as many models and locations built as other games, but each character has a billion fucking frames of animation they need to make so the costs tend to build up there.

They really aren't. I lost interest in fighting games because once you beat the mandatory modes like arcade and story you're done. I see no reason in getting a perfect run without ever getting hit for bragging rights. That's tedious work for nothing.

Fighting games are lame. Even worse is when a fighting game has good lore that could serve for a different type of game but sadly its wasted on a fighting game. Darkstakers alone could make an excellent platformer or action hack and slash game.

anon, strive is already 4 years old, plus the majority of people for fatal fury aren't gonna showing up and the other don't give a fuck about the game and they are only there because the prize pot is huge
