Why is "The Void" such an overused enemy force in fantasy, and even some science fiction? It's become a trope at this point that the ultimate evil of any given IP will inevitably be a non-descript The Void.
Not saying this is a bad thing, I just think it's interest that every story seems to lead to this.

The void is entropy, and entropy is the final boss of real life, thus it's the final boss of our imaginations as well.

Fearing the unknown is primal. Its not just a trope,its part of the human condition.
Being returned to nothingness is arguably a human's greatest fear, even over the unknown itself
Even people who commit suicide often wish for some meaning in that action, but if you are turned to nothing and so is everything else, you can't even take solace in that
