how long have you been ignoring them? I enjoy seeing everything but the ocd element feels like it's a net negative

I like difficult achievements but not painful ones like fucking cloudberry kingdom

My new year's resolution was that, for fun, I'd get 100 perfect games on Steam. I already had like 30 so getting 70ish more seemed like a fun thing to do. Pick some backlog games, some I wanted to replay, and just mop them up. I finished doing it about a month ago and all I can say is that it was fun to do but also I could feel myself ignoring certain games actual content and just focused on achievements. Won't be something I do in the future unless I enjoy a game a lot or it's stupid easy to do so.

I like going for achievements in games I really like. When I was a kid, I used to love 100%ing a game but because achievements didn't exist I had to make up my own criteria for what that was (if it wasn't a game that had its own sort of tracking of that stuff) so its nice to have them.

Trophies do, I like achievement hunting. Harder difficulties it depends on how the game is structured. If all it does is turns enemies into damage sponges and it just makes the gameplay worse then fuck off with that shit. Conversely some games, like Rebirth, the hardest difficulty makes the gameplay 10 times better.

Trophies/cheevos for finding secrets or ones that push you to play in ways you might not ordinarily are cool. Ones that require you to go out of your fucking way or do things that are contrary to the game's design or progression are shit. Ones just meant to waste your time by making you grind until you hit some arbitrary number of points are turbo dogshit.

I'd say this is correct the vast majority of time but I had a ton of fun getting the platinum for FFXIV but I think that's an exception solely because it's an mmo and a retardly autistic grind is kind of the whole point of those games. The worst ones are the super fucking grindy ones in games that have microtransactions to make things "easier" like all the pointlessly grindy shit in current year ubishit games. Like I shit think 100% in Asscreed Valhalla/the dlcs would take 200+ hours without boosts.
