Stop trying to make horror "appeal" to everyone. Not every game needs to be a co-op jump scare party with Twitch bait pacing. Bring back isolation, weird sound design, limited resources, actual atmosphere instead of loud violin stings every 4 seconds. Horror works when the player feels vulnerable and confused, not when you hand them a flashlight, a crafting system, and a talking sidekick.

That's kind of my point, though, the classic RE and SH model works really well when done right but few if anyone has executed it effectively (Signalis was okay but not more than that). That just means devs need to try harder, not give up and resort to gay mascot shit or first person run-and-hide garbage which will never be good no matter how it's executed.
