Genuinely good game. The only thing I didn't get playing it as a kid was how you needed to go to every area in each chapter. I didn't get that when I was 10 years old so I'd just randomly go around trying to figure shit out and inevitably missing a lot of stuff. X is still my favorite game of all time but looking back X-2 was actually an awesome follow up

4 is garbage, the plot is a worse version of 2 and extremely linear, there's no player input on how to build the party, spells or equipment and the only sidequest involves dropping a rat tail to get a new sword.
It's essentially a worse 13 because at least 13 opens up at the end, while it took three releases for the final party of 4 to be selectable at all.

It had unique costumes for everyone's dress spheres. And the dress spheres were just the job system all over again. And I always loved the job system. So naturally I enjoyed it's gameplay. The story was uh, I don't remember anything honestly. I definitely beat it though, I recall that.
