Does the Mother 3 writer understand that you need buildup for a proper payoff? I feel like all the Claus shit was too predictable and he was taken too early before the player can get really attached to him. Hinawa and Claus' deaths felt like forced melodrama because those moments weren't earned. Make us care about them first before killing them. Fuck, beating Toriel for the first time actually made me feel a little bad, just because of all her meaningful interactions with the MC of that game. Compare that to the soulless nothing that is Mother 3. Where everything feels rushed and the writer didn't think about how to get from Point A to Point B.

The thing comes from Lucas and Flint spending the entirety of the story grieving for their loved one's deaths. They both blame themselves for their deaths and never get over them.
