>>715890829Eh, I'm not convinced. Most of the counterarguments I've seen against the video rely heavily on "authoritative" sources (and critics) rather than actual literary sources or individual reports.
The very first counter-argument of the video you posted made me lose interest in watching any further:
>nevertheless it is doubtful that many modern people would think their lives would be considerably improved by spending four hours a day in food production, not counting domestic labour while losing all the quality of life advantages of modern industrialization>modern workers spend more time in daily labour in order for members of society to enjoy the considerable benefits of a massively higher quality of life>even if stone-age people only worked 4 hours a day, people in modern society work an average of 4 to 5 hours more to enjoy a quality of life which stone-age people would have associated with godsSeriously, what kind of nonsensical statement is this? Quality of life is not limited to the automation of some aspects of domestic labour.
And even then, the availability of machines such as dishwashers and washing machines does not mean that modern people suddenly don't have to spend many hours on domestic labour.
The amount of hours spend on domestic labour daily is a lot less, but only because modern people barely have time for these tasks outside of working, eating and sleeping. Most of these tasks are instead pushed ahead towards the weekend when they do have time for them.
And then I haven't even gone into the difference between production improving the situation of your community versus production benefiting an entity designed to exploit others.
Or the fact that our physical health has actually worsened due to our modern lifestyle which we are forced into. Or that the social aspect of our quality of life has become nearly non-existent.
