Oddly the games kept the silly tone of the first two seasons. After season 3 and 4 the show got so wrapped up in teen relationship pseudo intellectual "character development" lore to the point that it felt hard to get through, especially because this was all juxtaposed with the originally wacky fantasy world of candy people and characters such as hot dog princess and breakfast princess. Such a weird tonal shift.

Back when I was a kid I used to love this show, but around age 11 (2013) is when I was entering my cringe edgy phase and stopped watching cartoons altogether. Looking back, I didn't really miss much. As I've grown older, I've grown to hate Adventure Time since I realized it basically killed animation in the west. It was patient zero. I appreciate what adventure time ATTEMPED to do in terms of aging up the content and themes with finn as he grows up, but obviously it was executed poorly. I get most people wont be into the psuedo philosophical bullshit the later seasons get into, but that inane bullshit is the type of stuff that a 14-16 year old(fins age for most of the middle seasons) would think is le deep and meaningful. I think a lot of it was a pretty big fucking miss (fuck breezy and everything involving that gay comet) but there we a couple episodes that i thought were genuinely thought provoking(the pillow world episode, hall of egress, the ghosts girls episode). All in all its definitely a mixed bag, with most of the contents of said bag being feces, but for those of you that just wanted wacky adventures you really can just pretend it ends at s2(or s4 really most of s4 is still wacky adventures.
Also together again is the true series finale and the fionna and cake show was suprisingly not terrible.
