i work with a lot of boomer engineers near retirement
their idea of "working" is not really what you expect
theyre smart, theyre experienced, they travel and make decisions, but their brains are basically mush and they cant really do complex tasks like they could when they were younger
they have experience and can point you in the right direction but thats about it, anything remotely techinical and complex is being done by younger engineers who have the mental capacity to deep dive and analyze complex problems
