Turn based combat will never be fun, it was tolerable, they require no skill whatsoever. Real Time Combat is far more engaging despite the fact that a lot of developers cannot properly implement it. 33 combat was slop.

Melee combat in anything else than fighting games is ass in general. It's not just FF. For whatever reason, there's a tacit agreement between devs that melee combat must be awful garbage that feels like shit in anything else than fighting games.

Child of Light has one of the most enjoyable battle systems I've played.
