With Donkey Kong being everyone's minds I think it's time to talk about an interesting tidbit about DK64 that a lot of people don't know about. Remember Chunky Kong and how much of a huge coward he was? It must have been strange that he was just about to get into the ring against King K. Rool with no hestiation, but there's a reason for that. There was originally suppose to be a cutscene where Chunky has to be pushed into the ring by his fellow Kongs due to him not wanting to fight, and another where K. Rool absolutely washes Chunky with punch after punch, but before he should deliver the final blow, Chucky starts having a vision. Remember the infamously long game over cutscene? It used to be a part of this before it was repurposed, the differences being that Chunky was trapped in the hanger area, looking out the window to see K. Rool about to destroy DK Isle, the scene was also extended to show the rest of Kongs tied up to poles where the Island's "eyes" are, being obliteralted along with the rest of the island when the Blast-o-matic is fired. You can actually see remnants of how this suppose to play out in K. Rool's final smash in SSBU. After Chunky loses everything, and hearing the echoing laughter of the cruel tyrant ringing in his head, he finally drops to cowardice, delivers a massive counter punch to K. Rool, sends him into the corner, and then the real fight begins from there. Obviously, this much of this had to be cut and repurposed due to time contraints, and because they thought it would be too dark for a silly game about taking back your bananas from an overgrown crocodile, but it is interesting to hear about what could have been had they've gone through with it.
