Why build such a resort in the middle in a desert shithole? Why not build it right across a nicea beach, heck, Costa del Sol is in the vicinity
>Vegas
The question still stand, really.

To make sure the game had no bright cheery colors.

In the original canon it wasn't originally a desert. In Barret's flashback you can see the area is a forest.
In Remake however they changed it so that it's no longer built on top of Old Corel, so who knows.

When captain kirk landed there in the 60s he rebuilt this.

Even in the original though, Corel was a backwoods mining town. I'm guessing it was just a cheap land grab.

Yeah, it was easy land and they put a reactor there so it must have had plenty of mako before the Saucer drained it all.

The lore in the remake is that Dio convinced higher ups to finance it as a museum of some sort and slowly converted it into a huge amusement park which proved successful. The location is probably because they expected it to be shit at first.

I could stand Remake for the most part, but Rebirth just makes a mockery of FF7.

Just imagine: there's a golden sourcer under another one.

Technically it was flourishing like Gongaga, but due to mako sucking in order to keep every light on, this caused the formation of the desert. In fact in Rebirth there's 4 little mako reactors that keeps the entire park active.

it would has been nice to see, if the day shifting was not fixed for "lore" purposes, considering that all the events of FF7 happens in around 1 month.

i have no idea how you can say that when time jannies exist. It was shit from the end of the first reactor in the remake part 1

FF7 is like a 30 hour long game originally. It makes total sense for it to take place over only a few days.
