I am too old to parry. I am 31 and cant parry in games like Sekiro and E33 or even god of boy. I never learned this mechanic . Wasnt born with the reflexes to do this cleanly. It is over

What's there to learn? You press the parry button when an enemy attacks

Is it really that hard? You just press a button when the enemy swings at you. I suck at fighting games but I still managed to beat Sekiro

Nioh is the one I couldn't beat, the speed at which enemy attacks come out in that game is absurd.

you can, i'm 30 with also shit reflexes. i thought i would never beat sekiro

you just need to get used to it, it takes a while, after that it is almost second nature. still tricky, but doable

I'm going to tell you the old man trick
parry the second attack of a string

they do a fast attack that's too fast to react to but now they're locked into the second attack with a characteristic windup

you fuckers who use age as an excuse to not learn might as well just get euthanized. there's 0 reason a 30 year old shouldn't be able to parry or have good aim in an fos etc. thing is, you were never good, you never learned how to become good, and now you just blame age because it's convenient. if it's all downhill for you from here just end it now little buddy

these games have big-ass parry windows too, like sekiro's window the first time you hit L1 is an entire half second or so
you'd need actual physical disability to be too slow to do it (and physically disabled people have beaten sekiro anyway)

I beat Sekiro at 33 years old and did all the challenge boss rush modes but it wasn't worth it. It just gave me hand arthritis. I should have just played nice comfy porn games instead. It wasn't worth the pain

My reflexes aren't fast enough to get good at some 2D platform action games like Super House of Dead Ninjas. Fortunately for me, it is actually quite common for such games to have game speed tied to frame rate, so limiting the frame rate to less than 60 using Steam Deck's refresh rate slider (or other tools on PC) makes these games run in slow motion, like a built-in easy mode.
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST CHEAT IN SINGLE-PLAYER GAMES! YOU'RE DILUTING THE RARITY OF MY ACHIEVEMENTS!!!
Sorry but I have the right to use my purchased software as I please. Not even the most oppressive license agreement says I can't limit the frame rate. You'll just have to seethe and/or cope.

I suck at it too. I'm stubborn enough that if it's a game I like, and it forces me to do it (like E33) I will get it down, and I will 100% the game, but I will completely forget how to do it by the time I play the next game with parry mechanics.

i can't parry in sekiro
play easier games like wo long or lies of p, they feel like they have a bigger parry window so i'm able to slop my way through
wo long (and maybe other niohlikes by TN?) even lets you hold block and then press the parry button so mistiming a parry doesn't matter lmao
only way i beat lu bu

plus if you're really struggling this much just get a mod that widens the window. I did that with Lies of P because of how retarded all the mechanics are and since the game started boring me anyway by how trash the level designs are and it really improved my fun

Buy a 240hz Monitor and make sure to get as many fps as possible. It's a fucking cheat code in first person shooters and it works for parrying as well.

Don't play on a TV, not even a gaming TV.

I've always had horrible reflexes even as a kid. I can only play Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor on easy difficulty because even normal kicks my ass. I was pissed at God of War Ragnarok because they got rid of the armor attachment that increases your parry window. That was essential for me. Outside of that I've always relied on blocking and playing extremely defensively. Failing that, I tune down the difficulty.

I am very old, but I can parry in Sekiro. Games that rely on you memorizing or anticipating certain attacks, not so much. And I don't know what the hell Dark Souls parrying is, you have to time not only the enemy swing but also your own so your shield is present in the handful of frames the two overlap. Also not every attack can be parried, and requires trial and error for the most part. This is just ageism.

Dark Souls 2 and 3 made parrying with medium shields really bad, but it's fine in 1 (and in ER with the better parry ashes). The general expectation in all the games is to block an attack at first, and then you'll know the timing for a parry next time you see it.
