I stopped watching Death Note after the very first episode after L dies. I have never seen in my entire life a more obvious forced continuation of a finished story due to its success in my life. Of course, there are some characters who are specifically drawn to look distinctly like a race, like Aiber having a chad Scandinavian jaw, or, infamously, black characters having big lips. The manga handles part 2 significantly better, but it's still a downgrade from part 1 and I understand why people dislike it.
