This and 2 and 3 didn't age well. I understand that the controls are supposed to aid the tension and horror (stiff camera angles make for better mood) but it doesn't control as well. Puzzles are mediocre and the backtracking isn't metroidvania-tier. Nowadays horror is just better.
I just played through RE1 for the first time in 2025 and it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
