On a personal note, I think a lot of anons here are in a similar situation to Lucy in e3. Not the former sjwj/gender weirdo stuff, but the friendless shut in with not much going on in life. I bet some of us even had some trauma involving high school which makes her story hit home. It did for me. The whole makes it feel much more close to home, more real. E4 by comparison is just kinda meh.

Name a more iconic duo. Anon states he's going to help her get back into her old hobbies. She isn't "lobotomized", nor does the ending treat her as being at the final stage of her journey. It's implied she's eventually weaned off her Anon dependency. It's the game's bittersweet ending.

Probably somewhere between. E2 Anon had a pretty horrible life, even if most of it was self inflicted. Most of the anons here have a more low level shittiness to their lives. I hesitate to even use the word misery, since its really more of a somber malaise. Most people here are probably working unfulfilling jobs or living a neets, not newly made cripples fresh off of their government hell job.

Endings 2 and 3 are the most realistic. E1 exists as shock value, and E4 is the perfect fairytale ending. I think there's a good reason E2 and E3 specifically have resonated so much with people, and why they've inspired so many fan works. On a personal note, my high school experience was a combination of endings 2 and 3. My last relationship at the time was sadly E2 to a T, and I'm currently slowly bouncing back from pulling an E3 Lucy.

E2 hurt me the most for that reason. I'm somewhat in his position, but I am living off of essentially retirement money I made. But the difference between me and Anon is that I didn't give up on my dreams while he gave up to play games all day and do nothing of value. A lot of anons are in that position and lament about being at a total loss of what they can possibly do to turn their life around when they're in their late 30's with zero skills to note.
