Because the concept of the vampire was originally an interpretation of the Mark of Cain. In basically all European folklore there exists a mythological creature that's just "evil people born of Cain and Lilith that cavort with demons" because that was generally believed to be the source of all evil.
The specifics vary between cultures but all christians through the middle ages generally held the superstition that Cain's brood lived among them as cursed beings.
