That's color matching or theming, not color coding. Color coding is when you relay information via use of colors, for example by giving certain damage types in a video game their own colors.

Normally it's not the White Plastic/Paint that yellows first now. It's the LEDs because the blue leds are the first to weaken which ironically makes white appear more yellow.

No but you can put it there with an adapter. No casual user even have an application for disc drives today.

I still have 14TB drives in my main rig. I can never be bothered with NAS, seems like too much money to spend on something you can just keep in your PC and power cycle. I like having sacrificial 2.5 drives for heavy wear shit like browser caches to keep my M2 drives in decent condition, because 2.5 is cheap and M2 is more limited than SATA on motherboards. PCIe M2 expansions are still comically expensive vs just running more SATA cables.
