I often hear people blame Amazon Game Studios for the failure of the games they publish, Lost Ark, Throne and Liberty, New World, wanting to censor Blue Protocol before it was even released etc

But are they really responsible for games like Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty being so dogshit?
Sure making Korean NPCs black for no reason and refusing to release fan service skins is cringe as fuck but the core game design being garbage and anti consumer friendly(P2W) is still the developer's fault not the publisher right?

I think it's just a case of the stars aligning for all the wrong reasons, shit, developers, shit publisher

I'm pretty sure it's the Korean developers instituting the p2w monetization and system design that pushes away the majority of players and short-circuits the reward schedule for the players who stick around and pay for progress, eventually leading to the game's early death.

I'm not sure why developers still haven't learned that if you want to have a global service that succeeds for 10+ years, you can't have these abject p2w systems. Monetize character skins, cosmetic outfits, hair, makeup, weapon skins, skill visual effects, mount skins, vanity housing, and all manner of other non-p2w bullshit instead.
