The people always justify it with nonsense like "artists thrive under criticism" or "the harsh critics are the ones telling you what you need to hear". But it's complete nonsense because almost none of the criticism was about technique or form or had any basis in helping him improve at all. It was, exactly as he says, just meanspirited insults meant to belittle him as much as possible.
I don't like him, I think he's a pathetic lolcow for a reason, but he's still correct that the people who were obsessed with him were as bad or worse- exactly like we've seen with most other lolcows.
